A U.S. citizen can begin the process of having their spouse to the United States through a process known as immigration sponsorship. This requires filing a petition with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). After the petition is approved, the spouse can apply for a copyright, which grants them permanent residency in the United States.
